What is HAWB? More about it!
This is a site, run by 8th graders, to update the community an our families about our upcoming project in science class, the HAWB.
A HAWB is a High Altitude Weather Balloon. In our science class, our teacher, Mr. Wilson, is guiding us along the process of making a High Altitude Weather balloon ourselves. You are probably wondering, what exactly even is a High Altitude Weather Balloon? Well, we are here to answer your questions. A HAWB is a balloon that is launched into the atmosphere. They can often detect weather, and can even conduct other experiments such as how much pollution is in the air, and what the temperature is at different heights. As 8th graders, we will be launching two balloons. One balloon will represent the girls team, and the other will represent the boys team. Each team will completely design and build their balloon, and they will be launched on a scheduled date. Each team was divided into small groups, each of which will do a different part of the experiment. Each team also has leaders, who are responsibe for leading and running the project. We are on the Social Communication team, so that is why we chose to create this website. The other teams will be listed down below if you are interested. Also, we have included the links to some websites that answer specific questions about HAWB's, such as their weight, height, and tracking systems.
We hope you stay and come along for the challenge of creating these balloons.
